Design Wall Monday

I can't believe this is the last Design Wall Monday for the year. Don't forget to check out Judy's Blog--Patchwork Times to see everyone's blogs for today.
This is what's on mine: I'm going to be doing a couple of the NEW Year's Day Mysteries. The first one is at QuiltBug this is my fabric for it. Now there is paper piecing in this mystery so I have alot to do before Friday. But I don't mine pp so it shouldn't take me to long to make the upfront blocks.
The other mystery I'm doing is at Planet Patchwork
I still have to cut out all the fabric and get it ready for Friday.

I hope I can get both of them finish since I have all the time I want to sew it shouldn't be any problem to do both. Wish me luck.

Happy Yule & other stuff.

Happy Yule!
I have the Candle lite in the window to greet the Morning Sun for this is the beganing of the return of the sun. Tonight is the longest night of the year and a time to reflect on where you are and where you want to be, at least it is for me.
The picture above is some more of my decorations, that's my Teddybear section. The picture below is a tree Hubby got for the party we had today to put all the gift exchanges under and I used my handmade ornaments on it.And this is my new Tree Hubby bought me, since the kids have moved out we don't need the 7ft one so we got a 4ft one and all my ornaments fit on it and it came pre-lighted, what a nice thing that was. No more hassles with string lights. It only took me an hour to get it up not all day, but I also missed the kids because they always helped hang the ornaments on it.
I already put the presents under it so that's all done too. I just have one more present to finish, which I hope to do this coming week. Then on Christmas day DS and MIL will be coming over for dinner. We are having ham this year with all the fixings.

Also, one of the blogs I follow Irish Muses is having a Give-away for Christmas so please check it out. Who wouldn't want so preety stuff for Ireland.
Well that's all for tonight.
Brightest Yule Blessings Everyone!

Don't forget our Soldier's on Christmas

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear..
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then thesure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight. A soldier,
I puzzled, some twenty years old,Perhaps a Marine,
huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right, I'm out here by choice.
I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,
"Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,

Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.."
" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son.
"Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.

Thank you to all the Soldier's out there this Holiday season, We love you!

Jolly Jabber Give-a-way

Jolly Jabber is having a give-a-way( click on the picture above to read about it.) You have to write a letter to Santa telling him what you want and why. So here goes :-)

Dear Santa,
I've been mostly good this year, I mean really really good this year. I haven't gotten any stash that I haven't used and I've even completed some of those oh so troubling UFO's that seem to pile up everywhere. I'm hoping that the raindeer & elves will fill your sack with the following kit. Glace Frosted Windowpanes Quilt Kit by Brenda Riddle

so on Christmas Eve you can leave it under my tree. The reason I would really like this kit is being in the SCA, my persona is a 13 century French Lady and with the Fluers on this quilt it would be perfect for a cover on my bed when I go camping as it is a very period looking quilt.
Happy Holidays,

Santa Table Topper Done

This only took me 2 years to complete but it is done and off my UFO list. The Santa is a panel and the blocks around him are from a online Squishie Block Swap at QYW in 2007. I have already put him on my livingroom table and it fits perfectly there. Now when I get the Christmas tree up it will also go on this table so I may not need a treeskirt for it we will see.
These blocks are from the 2007 Christmas Block Swap at QYW I will be working on them next to make a top witrh them, then I have pre-printed Christmas Blocks that will go on the other side of these so I have a 2-sided quilt for the livingroom couch. Hope to get it done this week/end.

It's supposed to get colder here in Florida and rain some more, nothing like what you are getting up north, but a 20+ degree drop in temps is alot of here, from 82 today to 62 tomorrow. My wish this Christmas is for it to get cold enough to SNOW in my yard, not just in Florida so I will have a White Christmas Morning for the first time in my life.

Friday I get to go Christmas Shoppping with my DS and MIL. Yes, DS is back home in Fla. So hopefully he will stay out of trouble and get a job and stay here now.
Well time to get off here and go watch TV with Hubby.

Design Wall Monday

This is what's on my Wall for this week. This is a Table Topper I've been working on for a couple of years now, so it's a UFO. I'm hoping to have enough blocks left over to make a small one for the table beside the couch too.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Mini Quilt-Virtual Christmas Quilt Show-

Virtual Christmas Quilt Show
This is my entry into this show that SewCalGal is having, click on the link above to see the other or join in yourself.
Here is my Mini for Christmas. I had alot of fun making it today. I messed up on the binding, but it's not to much of a problem as it's staying here and not being given as a gift. I love Christmas and Decorating the house, but this year I'm very slow in getting it done. I do have my
crafts/sewingroom done and my Angel and Santa are up

This is what I put on top of my pattern file cabnit. I made the House from Plastic Canvas and the other stuff has been gotten over the years for the kids, who are now grown.
These are a couple of Stockings I've had made for me over the years from Online Swaps. I hope to put up my tree this week, all the ornaments are Homemade from swaps or given to me from my Hubby and my kids. Will post a picture when I get it up.

My Favorite Tradtion for Christmas is waking up Christmas Morning and making Cinnamion Rolls and watching the parade on TV. This year me and DD are going to both bake in our own homes and watch the parade at the same time while we are online together, so it's alittle bit different but still the same.
Now, I'm working on make a couple of Christmas quilts with blocks I've had for a couple of years.
Happy Holidays,
Cleary
