My Weekend-Renewal of Vows

Saturday Hubby and I Renewed our Vows. Here are some pictures, our friend Sorcha took them. It was really nice and we had a near perfect day!
This is me saying my vows to Hubby.
This is Hubby saying his vows to me.

Our Heartfelt Hugg.

This was before the renewal.

This was the dress I made for the day. Plus some of the stuff Hubby's been working on.

I also gave Tony the baby quilt I posted about here. I talked to Sarah and she said that she loved it and the baby will be coming home from the hospital in it plus will be in it at her first SCA event.
Have a Blessed Day!

Got this from a friend.......

I got this from a Friend who's Daughter has cerebral palsy --cppa site.( cerebral palsy parent association). I know I don't make a habbit of posting stuff like this but this one got to my heart.
Two Choices
What would you do...you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.
Where is the natural order of things in my son?'
The audience was stilled by the query. The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.' ....Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps. I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at batAt this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first! Run to first!' Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!' Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball. The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home. All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay' Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third! Shay, run to third!' As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!' Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team 'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'. Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day! AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY: We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate. The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces. If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message. Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference. We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.' So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process? A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats its least fortunate amongst them. You now have two choices: 1. Delete 2. Forward May your day, be a Shay Day.

My 2nd Art Quilt.......

Well, I'm back into quilting today. I've got 3 projects to finish and this is the first one. This is an Abstract Colors Art Quilt that was one of the projects with my Fiber Arts Group. it was really fun to make and to figure out where to put everything. If you look closely you can see the barn and light house, they were another project we did with clear packing tape and magazine pictures.
I printed the label out on my computer. I'm just glad it's finished and I can take it off my list.

Now back to finishing another one.

My Hubby's hobbie........

I really really love my Hubby. But, I think his hobby is taking over lol. He makes and collects Knifes, Swords & Axes, He started out like everyone else with just a couple hanging above the TV.
Then it was the Pirate Wall, which I do think is cool, and he made the wood to look like part of an old ship. That was find too. But then it was on the other wall of the livingroom, and both side of the front door ( great noone will ever rob us.)
Then He spread out into the kitchen and by the frig.

After that and this is way over the top. He did the bathroom. So, I finally told him to go find something to do outside because the house was full. Also, I told him if we have a Hurricanne (this is Florida) he was taking everything of the wall, not me.
When He first started this I took a picture of it and showed it to our friend Janet, and she laughed and said we ought to join the SCA. So, almost one year later we are in the SCA and having a ball at our first hobby together. Plus, the good side is now he's outside working on firepits, palvillions, tents, and stuff we need for the SCA, oh yeah did I mention the bed frame, and the trailer he built, but it keeps him busy and I really don't mind because he does cook, clean and takes care of me and I have time to do all things I want to do.
So, this Saturday we are Renewing our Vows, SCA style. which is going to be so much fun. I can't believe we've been together 22 years already.
But as for my Hubby's hobbies- I honestly can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
Have a Blessed Day!

My Favorite Quilt

Wow, what a good idea. Amy from Park City Girl is having a Spring Quilt Festival. She wants us to post about our Favorite quilt. So here goes.
This is my Superbowl 07 Mystery Quilt from Quiltbug. This is the second one I've made, the first one I made along with the mystery was done in pinks and reds a scrappy look from matching FQ's and my DD claimed it. Which was really cool considering she was not into pink at all.
I really like how easy it was to make this quilt so I found some fabric of my favorite color-- Purple-- (even the aprt that looks white is actully a very lite marbled purple) Then I cut it all out. I made one block, then had to work on another project for a swap, you know how that goes, you put it all together so it does get messed up and the directions with it in one corner and the next thing you know you now have a UFO. So in between 2 years of other quilts, Wall hangins etc. I finnally got the blocks all done and added it to my UFO List for this year(see side panel). so in January after the New's Day Mystery quilt(which still isn't finish lol). I got some fleese backing for it, in Purple and then I quilted it and sewed on the binding. I used it every night when watching tv with my Hubby.
Favorite Wall Hanging too:

Witches Fly on Halloween Night.

I made this quilt in September of 2007. It is machine Appliqued and Machine Quilted all from scraps I had in my stash at the time. The pattern is from Fon's and Porter's magazine and I made it thinking I would like to have it as a group thing to do at my LQS, but that was before I got sick. I really had alot of fun making it and I used the different speciality stitches on my at the time new sewing machine. I used a green bead for the witch's eye and a squiggly one for the crow's. The binding isn't perfet but that was before my friend Amy should me how to do machine binding.

My Hubby liked it so much that it is hanging on our kitchen wall year round as you can see from the picture.

Thanks for stopping by to see my favorite Quilt.

Have a Blessed Day!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Happy Easter tomorrow. This is the first year I don't have to make up Easter Baskets and fill up eggs to hide tonight. Both my Kids are grown and out of the house. So, Hubby & I plan on spending a quiet day just with each other. I did put up some decorations as you can see in the picture. I made them a couple of years ago out of Plastic Canvas. I also have a set of Egg Coasters that my Friend made me for an SP exchange years ago, they have Our intinals on them. So that's all i'm putting out.
I cleaned up my sewing area today and put away all the scraps from the SCA stuff I've been making (see sidebar for the link to my SCA Blog) I found some fabric to make the side panels for my one dress that I cut out a bit to small, but I have time to make it, no rush.
I went through all my UFO's and WIP's and put them all in a pile to work on starting tomorrow. Yeah finnally quilty stuff again.
Have a Blessed Day!

What I've been up to.......

I'm here, not much quilting going on right now. Everytime I think I'm done with an SCA project, I find another one that I have to do, or need to make by the end of that month for an event. but i'm having fun and I am sewing just not quilting. I'm learning alot about my sewing machine and that I can sew clothes now as long as they are from the 13 century lol. The above picture is a basket cover I made.
Also I've been finishing up the Beaded bookmarks I need for St. George's at the end of this month. Here they are all finished and in the basket ready to give out to other Fighter's Ladies and Royality.

Then I figured out I needed to hot glue and sew down my Hubby's Crest of his helm for the tourney. It looks like this.

Now he has to take Velcro and add it to the top of his helm. But that is he job (chore) to do. I still have to cut out 1 more dress for me and another tunic for him in Brown so he has one to work in, he's getting his green one stained when putting up the tents and palvillons at the sites. Oh and He wants me to redo these seat cover in green for these seats we had that the fabric seating part got ruined in the rain from being to old so have to have those done by May for that campout it's a 4-day one.

Hopefully some time this month I may be able to sew something quilty, lol.

Have a Blessed Day!
